Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State has called on the people of the state to be calm and law-abiding while reiterating his inauguration day pledge to lead the state well.

He was speaking at his country home, Mbutu, Aboh Mbaise while receiving a strong delegation of Okigwe Elders’ Forum (OEF), yesterday.

“I am here to work, I will work for Imo, I will serve you, I will be governor for all,” he reassured the elders made up of the who’s who from Okigwe zone.

The OEF led by Prof. Maurice Iwu said it had come to felicitate with Governor Ihedioha and pledge the loyal of the zone to his administration. They also called attention to the acute infrastructural deficit in their Zone.

The visitors from Okigwe comprised a chunky representative of the clergy, the intelligentsia, monarchs and the political and business elite. Among them were former governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, former Deputy Governor, Engr. Ebere Udeagu, the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Isi Mbano, Rt. Rev. Godson Ukanwa, Barrister Chris Okewulonu and Barr. Charles Ezekwem, State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Alluding to the Akachi statue incidence, he noted that mischief makers of yesterday still abound in the state who are bent on distracting, if not derailing his administration.

He condemned the barbaric act of some people venting pent up anger on the Akachi statue, calling for calm while warning against unruliness and lawlessness. He promised that his government will right all wrongs in due time but only through the instrumentality of the law.

He informed that he had received no handover note from the former Governor Rochas Okorocha, noting that he was too preoccupied with things far more important than mere statue.

“There’s no doubt that I will take hard decisions at the right time but I assure you all that Imo people will be happier for it,” Governor Ihedioha told his visitors.
