The Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) will in no distant time build an Olympic size swimming pool in Oguta Community in Oguta Local Government Area of the state to complement the ongoing stadium constructed by Oguta Local Government at the Council secretariat.

S.A. Media and Communications to the MD. Collins Ughalaa, disclosed this in a release he issued on Monday and availed Daily Nigerian Horn.

According to the release, this is in keeping with the directive of the Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, during his inspection of the projects embarked upon by the Council.

“The Governor had expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done on the new Council secretariat and stadium projects, saying that the quality of work done is one of the best in the state.

“He said that with the tourism potentials of the local government, a good sports center with the Olympic size swimming pool would prepare the local government to host national and international sporting events. “ the release added.

The Managing Director of ISOPADEC, Engr. Owuoma Anthony Okwuosha, assured the Governor that the Commission would immediately commence the process of awarding the contract for the construction of the Olympic size swimming pool in the area.

He noted that when completed the facility would be of great help in harnessing the sports talents and help reduce youth restiveness in the area.

Meanwhile, ISOPADEC has embarked upon the process of reviving the moribund Oguta Motel, alongside the gold course located opposite it.

This was disclosed by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Gerald Irona, on Sunday, October 27, 2019, when he inspected the moribund facility, alongside the Managing Director of ISOPADEC, Engr. Owuoma Anthony Okwuosha.

The motel, initiated in 1975, will employ more than 1,000 workers and improve the tourism potentials of the area when it is operational.

Engr. Okwuosha assured that the motel being a legacy project will not be allowed to totter but will be put to productive use, adding that the golf course would revive sporting activities in the area.
