Against the speculations that there is undue interference from Imo State Government on the fiscal allocations from the Federal Government to the 27 local government areas of the state, Hon. Carnice Mba has absolved the state government from any interference saying that the council areas enjoy full autonomy of their fiscal and internally generated revenues.

Mbah who is the Chairman, Interim Management Committee of Mbaitoli Local Government Area disclosed this in his office at Nwaorieubi, the council’s administration headquarter when members of the Correspondents chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Council was on facts finding tour of the council area.

According to him “what we have achieved today is a result of non interference of fiscal allocations and internally generated money of the council by the state government in Imo State,the local government areas enjoy full autonomy, Governor Emeka Ihedioha does not interfere in our financial resources. He gives us all the needed resources and support” he revealed.

The Chairman who said he came on board barely five months ago lamented that he inherited a desolated secretariat likened to the era of the end of the Nigerian civil war.

He said that he embarked on 3R strategic road map that entails reconstruction, rehabilitation and reconciliation and directed the 12 councilors that also constituted membership of the Interim Management Committee to identify priority projects in their various areas.

Mba informed that based on his penchant for visionary governance and commitment to rural development that he has assured that each of the 12 wards that constitutes the council area has a legacy project under his administration to show off.

The council boss assured that most of the projects have been completed and others within 80% completion and informed of his plans to complete and commission all the projects before the end of the year.

According to him “ I am the only Chairman that have embarked on ward projects either ongoing or completed, especially in the areas of mini stadium complex, classroom blocks, culverts, health centres, gully erosion, empowerment of youths and women among others”

Mba also revealed his administration’s efforts in check mating ghost workers and negligence to duties by acquiring clock-in machine even as he bought brand new van for the council as well as earth moving machines for ease of grading, sand filling and rehabilitation of her rural roads.

The Chairman who assured the completion of all on going projects before the expiration of his tenure further described the local government area as the second largest council area in Nigeria.

He further expressed dismay on the selfish attitude of some political leaders and called for objective and constructive criticisms among the populace while thanking the council area workers for their co-operation, encouragement and support.

Earlier, Mr. Steve Uzoechi, the State Chairman of the correspondents chapel said that his members were spurred by the challenges of the state governor for open door policy and their social responsibilities role as the societal watchdog in their facts finding tour of the council area.
