There is palpable tension in Imo State over the uncertainty in the conduct of council elections scheduled to take place in December.
On assumption of office, Governor Emeka Ihedioha had promised to conduct election in the third tier of government after he dissolved the elected chairmen council executives. The elected officials barely stayed one year out of three years before they were dissolved.
Surprisingly, the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) chaired by Julius Onyenucheya, a lawyer, was yet to give notice to that effect, three months before the poll as required by law.
Those who spoke to The Guardian expressed fears that the pools might not hold.
