The national leadership of Actors Guild of Nigeria AGN has gone ahead to hold election screening in Imo State despite warnings from both State Government and the Police.

The screening which is ongoing at press time, has divided most of the people vying for offices at the upcoming election of Imo State Chapter of AGN, as the AGNEC (electoral committee) has threatened to disqualify those failed to show up at the venue.

Royal Prince

“Unless they can guarantee that everyone at the venue is Coronavirus free which they cannot. They don’t have anything to guarantee their safety or that of those they are screening, so it’s not worth it”

“I’ve advised then to postpone the screening because with the recent Covid19 pandemic around the world and the precautionary measures taken by the state, there’s no way the main election can hold. So why the rush” said Prince  Cres Ugo aka Royal Prince who is vying for the office of the state secretary.

Although the AGNEC which is headed by Rhime is carrying out the orders of the National Chairman, Royal Prince said he does not believe that the same National Chairman who canceled all productions for the safety of her members, will sanction election screenings knowing that the elections will never be held until the pandemic is over.

He called on the National Executive headed by Emeka Rollas to cancel the screening for the safety of her members adding that if he is disqualified, he will not hesitate to take legal action against them.

“how can they still go ahead when it’s obvious just four candidates will be attending. They should just call it off” Royal Prince added.

Incumbent chairman, Nneoma Ukpabi will be running against Austin Awujor and Tony Chukwu, while  should Royal Prince would be up against  Incumbent Ken Anoruo and Chuma Mmeka for the position of Secretary.
