Two Deputy Vice  Chancellors of Imo State University have been removed as their tenures have expired. 

Prof. Cornelius Nkwam Uwaoma (DVC, Academics ) and Prof. B. E. B. Nwoke (DVC, Administration), according to  a press release signed by the Imo State Commissioner for Education, Professor B. T. O Ikegwuoha, were illegally and unlawfully kept in office after the expiration of their tenure.

“In accordance with the Imo State University Law no. 5, the tenure of office of the  University Deputy  Vice Chancellor is for a period of 2 years. Accordingly, the tenures of offices of the 2  University Deputy Vice  Chancellors of Imo State: Prof. Cornelius Nkwam Uwaoma (DVC, Academics ) and Prof. B. E. B. Nwoke (DVC, Administration), expired jointly on February 6, 2020 but were still unlawfully and illegally kept in office” the release reads. 

The Deputy Vice Chancellors were then asked vacate their Offices as stipulated by the University Law and hand over all University properties in their possessions by April 1, 2020.

While thanking the ousted DVCs for their contributions to the University, Prof. Ikegwuoha further directed them to seek clearance and approval of any re-appointment or appointment to the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor exclusively from the Executive Governor of Imo State and Visitor to the University.

Similarly, Imo State Government has approved the removal from office of the Imo State  University Bursar , Mr. Kingsley Mbamara and the Ag. Registrar: Mrs. Rosekate Ogbu and replaced them with: Dr. O. J. E. Anyanwu as the Acting Bursar and, Dr. Julius Uzoma Osuagwu  as the Acting Registrar of the University – both appointments take effect on  April I, 2020.
