One Thursday May 14, 2019, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC reported 4 new cases of Covid-9 in Imo State alongside 189 others in Nigeria.
The 4 new cases takes Imo State’s tally to 7 and this is coming few days after a testing center was commissioned in the State.
With a total of 193 new cases in the entire federation, Nigeria’s tally is now at 5162 with 167 deaths and 1180 recoveries.
According to a tweet by NCDC, Lagos the country’s epicenter recorded 58 new cases, followed by Kano State with 46 taking their tally to 755 behind only Lagos with 2099 and 40.7% of total cases in Nigeria.
New cases in other states are 35-Jigawa 12-Yobe 9-FCT 7-Ogun 5-Plateau 5-Gombe 4-Imo 3-Edo 3-Kwara 3-Borno 1-Bauchi 1-Nasarawa and 1-Ondo.

So far, 30,657 persons have been tested in Nigeria with 16.8% of them coming out positive, 73.9% of cases are still active, 22.8% of patients have recovered, while 3.2% have died as a result of the viral disease.
The lockdown in Imo State have been relaxed with shops and markets open in Owerri. Operators of public transport (Taxi Imo and Bus Imo) are yet to implement the new rule of reducing the number of passengers they carry, while the government is also yet to move for the serious implementation of the mask wearing rule in the state.
