An Owerri High Court has rejected an application by former Governor of Imo State, Hon.Emeka Ihedioha to restrain the Imo State House of Assembly from probing alleged mismanagement of N19.63 billion Local Government funds.
Justice S.I Opara in his ruling held that rather than grant the ex-parte application, the case would be set for hearing.
He however ruled that all parties must file necessary documents for hearing.
The judge adjourned till May 27 for hearing.
Also, the members of the Public Accounts Commitee of the Imo State House of Assembly investigating N19.63 billion naira LG funds allegedly mismanaged by the Ihedioha administration says it would forward it’s report to the Economic and Fianancial Crimes Commission, EFCC
Chairman House Commitee on Public Accounts , PAC, Hon.Chigozie Nwaneri, alongside other members of the Committee, said work on the report has gone up to 50 percent.
Nwaneri, who represents Oru East State Constituency said the House involved the services of external auditor and an accountant to conclude the report as submitted to the House by the auditor General of local government in the State.
Apparently reacting to allegations by PDP lawmakers in the House that the Commitee should be headed by a member from the minority party, the lawmaker said the Commitee has been in existence for almost a year
” And since this present Government came in we have not reshuffled this Commitee. This Commitee has remained the same as when the previous government was in office.
“And no one can say that it is biased. We are just going by the book as submitted to us by the Auditor General of the local governments. We are doing fact findings; the work has already being done. We are also trying to find out if the Auditor General is not trying to witch Hunt anybody”
