Governor Hope Uzodinma has told former members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who joined the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Imo State, that they will not suffer from marginalization.

Some top officials of the PDP in Imo State such as its former State Chairman, Youth leader, Legal Adviser, Assistant Financial Secretary, and some chieftains of the party, had decamped to the APC on Thursday .

Speaking to the defectors at Government House, Owerri, the Governor said they are entitled to all rights, privileges which accrue to other members of the APC.

According to him, the defectors made a wise decision by crossing over to the APC, saying that their defection is a clear signal that the political class is uniting for the development of the state.

He said Imo is a state is with great potential, stressing that the State can do better when “we are united”

Uzodinma said they should see their coming over to the APC as home coming, stating that no one has decamped rather there is need for unity to create prosperity for the people of the State.

“Today, we have strengthened democracy. The political class strengthen democracy and everyone here is a member of the political class. We must unite to create prosperity for our people. We must create history for ourselves by creating a great state,” he said.

“I am open to working with anyone with sincerity of purpose and vision for the state. While I welcome you to APC, I assure you that no one will be marginalised. Everyone is a stakeholder. The caliber of men I have seen here today shows that APC is really the party in Imo.
