With the second wave of Covid-19 hitting many countries of the world, more than 600,000 persons have now died with the virus globally.
United States of Amerika makes up nearly a quarter of that number with over 140,000 deaths.
Global cases of Covid-19 has surpassed 14 million, according statistics by Johns Hopkins University, with more than half of that figure already recovered.
US still has the highest number of cases around the world with over 3.7 million confirmed cases, followed by Brazil and India with 2 and 1 million cases respectively.
With more than 261,000 new cases in 24 hours, the World Health Organisation, said the world has witness the largest single day increase in the virus, since the pandemic broke out.
The rice in cases was also followed by a corresponding increase in death with 7,383 persons dying with the virus, within the same period of time.
In Africa, there has been 701,573 comformed cases of the virus, with 14,937 deaths and 369,120 recoveries.
South Africa, 5th country with highest number of cases in the world is number one in Africa with more than 350,000 cases just behind Russia who have recorded over 770,000 cases of the virus.
Also in Africa, Egypt is behind South Africa with 87,000 cases, 27,868 recoveries and 4,251 deaths, while Nigeria is third with 36,107 comfirmed cases, 14,938 recoveries and 778 deaths.
With 13,341 confirmed cases, 1,958 recoveries and 176 deaths, Lagos State remains the epicenter of Nigeria, while in South East, Abia state leads with 479 confirmed cases, 365 recoveries and 3 deaths.
Imo State so far has seen 9 deaths from the virus, with 83 persons recovering out of the 462 confirmed cases in the state.
