The lawmaker representing Oguta constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Frank Ugboma, on Tuesday, denied allegations by the Speaker, Collins Chiji, that his colleagues planned to remove him (Chiji) and the state Governor, Hope Uzodinma, from office.

Ugboma, who spoke to our correspondent on the phone, described the Speaker as a liar.

He said Chiji was trying to pit lawmakers against the governor.

Ugboma explained that the governor had not committed any impeachable offence.

He said, “As far as I am concerned, the governor has not committed any impeachable offence. The Speaker made the allegation to pit the lawmakers against the governor.

“Also bringing Emeka Ihedioha into it is the height of ingratitude. In fact, PDP lawmakers are angry with Ihedioha for influencing the appointment of Collins Chiji, who was coming from APGA, as the Speaker.

“It is annoying that the Speaker will go to the pages of newspapers to announce that no lawmaker is being owned which is not true. With that coming from the Speaker, my aides and constituents, who look up to me for financial assistance, will see me as a liar.”

Chiji had on Sunday alleged that some of his colleagues were planning to impeach him and the governor of the state.

He was quoted as accusing Ihedioha of being the brains behind the impeachment plot.
