With Imo State Government battling with the wave of unpaid civil servants and pensioners, Gov. Uzodinma aide on Science and Technology, Hon. Chief Lawson Chukwu has called on affected individuals to act according to the directives of the government as it is the only way out.

Chief Lawson Chukwu who said science and technology is the new way of life, added that aside making things easy, it stamps out corruption, saying that it is wrong for people to be paid without Bank Verification Number BVN.

He said that BVN makes it easy for the government to detect ghost workers and the simple thing is for those affected to visit the verification centers with the necessary documents.

“This government wants to set a global standard and when achieved will make payment of salaries and pensions very easy and timely”

“it is not enough to shout or protest about nonpayment of salaries and pensions when we don’t want to comply with simple government regulations”, he said.

The Senior Special Assistant on Science and Technology, further stated that the ‘no BVN, no salary and No BVN, no pension regulation will ensure multiple payments will no longer be made to some individuals in the system, while calling on imolites to support the Gov. Hope Uzodinma led admiration as it works towards the rehabilitation, reconstruction and recovery of Imo’s glory.

Earlier on Friday, the state governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma received an audit report of Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB), which according to him “revealed some sad realities in the State Primary Schools”.

After revealing how dead and fictitious individuals were still being paid by the state government, Gov. Uzodinma said he will not be moved by any form of blackmail and will remain committed to sanitizing the civil service in its entirety.

“I admonish other Ministries, Agencies and Departments of Government to tow the line of IMSUBEB. No amount of distraction will deter our Government from going-on and completing the exercise of sanitizing the Imo State Civil Service”

“I advise those in the habit of politicizing the civil service and pension matters to desist from such. Civil servants and pensioners who have not received their payments should go to the data center to submit their necessary details”

“I reiterate the resolve of our Government that no amount of blackmail will make us backout from sanitizing the civil service in its entirety”, Gov. Uzodinma wrote on social media.
