Traditional rulers in Ideato South of Imo State have backed Governor Hope Uzodimma.
Former Governor Rochas Okorocha is from Ogboko community in Ideato South.
The monarchs spoke when they visited Uzodimma’s Special Adviser on Women Mobilisation, Mrs. Josephine Nnoham, in Owerri.
Chairman of Ideato South Council of Traditional Rulers and monarch of Umuakam Peter Ewuzie, and monarch of Ogboko F. J. Egenokwu, praised Uzodimma for his commitment to participatory democracy and security.
According to them, giving traditional rulers a major role in the community policing programme ‘showed how much the governor wants us to be part of governance’.
Nnoham urged royal fathers to unite their subjects toward execution of community projects to accelerate development.
She admonished them to use their thrones to rally support for the government saying ‘we are no longer campaigning for votes. I want you to know that Governor Uzodimma holds traditional rulers in high regard and wants you to play a major role in the development of rural communities. That’s why he needs your support’.
