As the intrigues surrounding the Imo North Senatorial bye election reaches its crescendo, Daily Nigerian Horn has learnt that there are subtle plans to foist Frank Ibezim as Senator of Okigwe Zone.
Ibezim is a bosom ally of Minister of State for Education, Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba.
A source who declined mentioning his name, told Daily Nigerian Horn that all things being equal, Ibezim will be the next Okigwe Senator to replace late Benjamin Uwajumogu.
He disclosed that Ibezim’s choice has received approval from the stakeholders of APC, both in the State and Abuja saying the deal has almost being completed.
Asked why the Minister will support a relatively unknown politician against the more established ones in the Zone, the source said the game plan is for Ibezim to complete the remaining tenure of Uwajiuba and surrender to the Minister in 2023, saying Hon. Nwajiuba has always had the ambition of becoming a Senator or Governor of Imo State.
The source however said that should the plot to foist Ibezim on Okigwe people succeed, the Zone will continue to be a laughing stock among other Zone as he described Ibezim as a green horn who is yet to make a mark in the politics of the Zone.
