Queen Isabella Chinenye Okafor (Ada Imo) has taken it upon herself to ensure that the signage at both the famous Freedom Falls and Imo International Conference Centre Owerri have new glowing looks.
The beauty queen told www.otowngist.com that after reading a post tagged ‘WHEN FREEDOM FALLS’ on Facebook, she felt bad knowing that what used to be a fine tourist site has been abandoned for that amount of time.
The Obowo LGA born beauty queen who was crowned Ada Imo in December 2018 said “sometimes we have to put politics aside and think Imo first”
“The signage makes it look like no one cares, but I know we are not like that. I wish I could fix the entire Freedom Falls and bring it back to what it used to be, but I just had to do what I could at the moment for my state”
“People keep asking me why, but for me, I feel the entire place deserves to look good. I remember when people would drop by to take pictures at the Freedom Falls and I.I.C.C because they are really beautiful edifices; we can have those days back, because they really helped put Imo State on the tourism map of Nigeria”
Queen Isabella Chinenye Okafor speaking further said, that politics aside, Imolites should do what they can to make the state better.
“Sometimes we don’t have to wait for the government. We take these pains and I feel some of them won’t cost most people more than what they spend for fun in a day. We need to build our state; make it better and while the government is working, our works will compliment it”
“Should this inspire the rebuilding of the Freedom Falls by the government, individuals or any other organization, I’d be the most grateful person, all I want is for that area which is the heart of Owerri to be beautiful again”
“I know the pandemic has made all of us switch our financial agenda including the government but as a Tourism Ambassador of the state and environmental activist, I want to see everywhere good again” Queen Isabella who is also the Coordinator of Imo State models said.
The gesture has so far been receiving accolades, with many referring to her as a true example of an Imo first daughter (Ada Imo).
