As the Okigwe Senate bye election takes place on October 31, 2020, there are reports that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, will be in Imo State, witness the election and to support the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Wike has been in the news lately for his pivotal role which led to the victory of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Obaseki had defeated the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu, in the Edo State governorship election.
With the Okigwe Senate bye election around the corner, PDP stalwarts in Imo State are craving for the Rivers State Governor, to come to Imo State to witness the polls and aid victory for his party.
This has stirred widespread reactions from various quarters in the State notably from the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.
Chairman APGA, Imo State, John Iwuala, in a statement seen by INNONEWS, advised the Rivers State Governor to stay away from the Okigwe senate polls.
The APGA Chairman said what largely shaped the outcome of the polls in Edo State was because the votes of the people counted and “INEC and security officials did their best to allow the peoples votes count when necessary”
Iwuala, advised Governor Wike “to stay clear from Imo North bye election as Imo is not Edo State”
“Imolites, especially the good people of Okigwe zone are ready to guide, protect and escort their votes from polling units to wards and up to the local governmets, till the final result is declared by INEC” the statement quoted Mr.Iwuala to have said
The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Imo State, is fielding Chibuike Onyirimba in the Okigwe senate bye election.
The election is adjudged a three horse race between candidates of the All Progressive Congress, APC, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.
