On Friday, 20th November, 2020 all roads will lead to SpringAid International Development (SAID) Nigeria edifice called Maria Magdalena Entrepreneurship Development Centre at Amato Alike Ikenanzizi, Obowo LGA of Imo State.
SAID will hold her Phase 3/2020/2021 academic session/term of the SAID Nigeria initiative is called and known as Ensuring Access To Basic Education Programme (EATBEP), in other words known as Back To School Programme, which is part of SAID Nigeria’s Local Entreprenuership Access Programme (LEAP) on the fateful day.
The back to school Phase 3 Programme of the SAID Nigeria, according the organization’s communications manager, Nwosu-Okorie Prince Joseph C.M entails a “one school to school visit” of the SAID Nigeria Back to School team will only hold for a day.
He said the team will be ensuring that the purpose with which “Ensuring Access To Basic Education Programme (EATBEP), in other words known as Back To School Programme is sustained as part of SAID Nigeria’s Local Entreprenuership Access Programme (LEAP) amongst the pupils and students in mission, government and private nursery, primary and secondary schools.
He said plans are on for a successful delivery of their Phase 3 and 2020/2021 programme.
Mr Nwosu-Okorie who doubles as the SAID Nigeria Back to School Coordinator stated that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization, Arc. Teddy Ihens assigned him along with the Back to School team to communicate the public that applications of the parents of this phase 3 were received last year during the phase 2 2019/2020 programme which the outbreak of COVID-19 couldn’t allow us act as early as we should have acted .
Further, he also said the management lamented over the ongoing global recession caused by COVID 19 which really influenced the decision of the management of SAID Nigeria.
SAID Nigeria has 401 Children at present in the programme,
However, on November 20th 2020, only those children in Imo State will be invited because of COVID ‘19 to come to Maria Magdalena Entrepreneurship Centre Amato Alike Obowo LGA of Imo State.
The beneficiaries of Imo State are drawn from seven Local Government Areas out of the 27 Local Government Areas in Imo State; namely Owerri West, Owerri North, Ikeduru, Isiala Mbano, Ihitte Uboma, Obowo and Ahiazu Mbaise.
He noted that some of the beneficiaries have dropped out of school while some are currently at the verge of dropping out of school, pointing out that this time the management decided to use Maria Magdalena Entrepreneurship Development center which serves also as the secretariat of the Back to school Programme.
The SAID Nigeria Back-To-School Programme has 401 children on this programme which avails the Children the provision of school materials to the children and engages in advocacy to parents on the importance of education advocacy to teachers and principals.
Prince Joseph described SpringAid International Development (SAID) Nigeria as a not for profit organization, whose vision and mission are to have a society where human dignity and equality of all people on the globe are acknowledged and respected.
Prince Joseph on behalf of the The SAID Nigeria CEO, Mr. Teddy appealed to the Commissioner for Education and the local government officials, LGA education authorities and the general public to partner and assist SAID Nigeria to get these children back to school.
He said in so doing the number of children in the streets will be reduced to the barest minimum.
