Heartland FC: Pay Us Our Salaries So That We Can Concentrate On Our Games – Ezenwa
Super Eagles Goalkeeper and Assistant Captain of Heartland Fc, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has urged the Imo State Government to listen to the pleas of the players by paying them their entitlements due to them, so as to ensure they stay focused in executing their games.
Players of Heartland Fc, who have lost back to back games in the new NPFL season (against Katsina FC and against Nasarawa United) have not been paid their due salaries for some couple of months, and players of the club have all come out to plead with Government to pay what is rightfully theirs.
In a chat with Sports 247, Assistant Captain of the side, Ikechukwu Ezenwa joined members of his team to once again plea to the Imo State Government to pay them their deserved salaries, so as to ensure they concentrate and stay focused in executing their matches. He also stated that most of these players have families and a lot of issues to settle with funds, and if not being paid, will affect their subsequent matches as the League progresses, insisting that this issue was a huge factor for their poor start to the season as they have lost back to back games in the new season.
“All the players are asking for is their wages, because most of them are facing serious challenges in their immediate families and their extended families. They just need the Government to pay these funds to them, that is their monthly salaries for them to offset all those problems that are not allowing them to concentrate on their career”.
“How can a player say he doesn’t want to play for a certain club side, it’s because of this issue. We played against Katsina United, we were being owed, we played against Nasarawa United, we are being owed”.
“Looking at this team (Heartland Fc), you will realize that it is these issues that the players are going through in their various homes and it is really affecting our games.
“So what we are begging is for the Government to come to our aid to offset these bills and I think everybody will be fine. There is no time a player will say that he is not going to play for this club or the management, anyone who said that is a big lier”, he concluded.
Heartland Fc will hope to record its first win of the 2020/2021 NPFL season after back to back losses in the league.
