Imo State Deputy Governor, Prof Placid Njoku has dismissed reports of his resignation saying he will not do so because he “enjoys a robust working relationship with his boss, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, Executive Governor of Imo State and indeed with every member of the State Executive Council, including members of the State legislature”

According to a statement by Njoku’s Press Secretary, Teddy Ukwuoma, Njoku said “Imolites are enjoined to disregard such unfounded rumours and continue supporting the peace and development of Imo State.

According to the statement, “This story has no iota of truth in it but it is a mere figment of the imaginations of those working against the Government and people of Imo State.

Rumours had spread like wild fire on social media that the Deputy Governor had resigned.

Some months ago, there were also reports on social media of a plot to oust the Deputy Governor.

A prominent politician from Owerri zone, Mr. Henry Njoku, Harritex,was fingered to be behind the plot.

Harritex denied the allegations, describing the report as untrue and unfounded, maintaining that he has a good relationship with the Deputy Governor.

Former Speaker, Imo State House of Assemby, Kelechi Nwagwu, also debunked the plot, saying such moves to oust the Deputy Governor does not exist.
