Police in Imo have arrested a suspected drug baron, Nnamuka Uchenna who allegedly supplies narcotics to members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the state.

Uchenna, 33, was arrested on July 8 at his residence at Umuaka in Njaba Local Government Area of the state alongside Chinedu Ukaegbulam, 20, and Augustine Ete, 39.

It was gathered that when the suspect’s premises were searched, substances suspected to be cocaine valued at N150 million, and a measuring scale were recovered.

Police sources said the suspects were apprehended following diligent intelligence gathering that led to the arrest of one Obinna Ohaji who disguised as a driver in search of passngers in a Nissan Caravan bus with the inscription.

On searching the bus, it was learnt that a large quantity of cocaine neatly concealed in the bus was recovered .

On interrogation, police said the bus driver confessed that the white substance suspected to be cocaine was given to him to deliver to an unknown lady at Elele in Rivers State.

It gathered that the driver voluntarily led the command’s tactical teams to the border between Imo State and Rivers states where the receiver, one Princess Samuel, 17, was arrested. She was said to have confessed to be the one who supplies the Rivers State arm of the group.

Police spokesman Michael Abattam said the suspects were possibly the ones who distribute drugs to various terror camps in the state.

According to him investigation is ongoing to trace the source of the hard drugs into the state and also to arrest other members of the syndicate in hiding
