The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chinedum Orji is saddened by the death of Lady Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi, the wife of ex-military Head of State, Major General Aguiyi Ironsi.
In a statement, the Abia Speaker described Late Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi as a mother of exceptional qualities, and said she neither wavered nor strayed from the pristine causes her late husband believed in and fought for but chose the noble but difficult option of staying back to nurture not only her biological children but also help groom those of us privileged to drink from her bosom of immense wisdom, charity and service.
The lawmaker thanked God Almighty for giving her long life.
Orji, on behalf of his family, Principal Officers and Members of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly, condoled with the first son of the Ironsi household, His Excellency, Ambassador Tom Aguiyi Ironsi, and the entire Ironsi family, the Government and the good people of Abia State, on the demise of Late Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi, praying God to grant her soul eternal rest.
Late Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi died at the age of 98.
Similarly, the Abia Speaker, has mourned the death of Lady Adanma Okpara, the wife of former premier of the Old Eastern Region, Dr. Michael Iheonukara Okpara who died at the age of 97.
He described Late Adanma Okpara as an unassuming achiever and committed leader who kept the towering flag of her husband flying till death, saying that the void her death has created will be very difficult to fill.
Orji condoled with the first son of the iconic Okpara dynasty, Chief Uzodinma Okpara, the Government and people of Abia State, on the passing on of Lady Adanma Okpara, praying God almighty to grant her soul eternal rest.
