Former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has backed calls for the governing All Progressive Congress, APC to pick it’s presidential candidate from the South.

“There is no justification for APC zoning the Presidency away from the South. If zoned to the North, it will polarise the party” he spoke at an event organized by the Abuja Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ in Abuja.

Okorocha who represents Imo West at the Senate, warned the APC, on the dangers of not zoning it’s Presidency to the Southern part of the country.

He said the party may be divided if the ruling party fails to zone its presidential candidate to the South

He said the North has produced a President, thus it is only logical for the APC to allows the South in 2023.

“When I took the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA to the APC for the South East to be in the mainstream, I was called many names.

“We should develop national spirit, high spiritual evaluation above personal convictions. It protects the indigent and weak in the society.

“I see positive and new things to come in Nigeria with such spirit. I agree with Southern Governors on the Southern Presidency” he said
