A group under the umbrella of Global Association of Concerned Imo Youths (GACIY), has accused politicians over the alarming rate of incidents of violence against innocent people of the state.
The group in a statement by their Convener, Collins Ughalaa, regrets the volume of destruction and large scale loss of lives with a view to destabilising Hope Uzodimma’s government.
The group insists that those behind the hellish act in the state may be mercenaries paid by desperate politicians, predicting a shameful end for them.
Their statement:
“On Sunday Sept 12, 2021 security agents, acting on credible intelligence, neutralised 3 gunmen and arrested 2 others in Ngbuka, Orlu LGA, Imo State.
“According to security reports sighted by GACIY “those killed are Chidera Nnabuhe a native of Umuala Amaifeke Orlu LGA, Imo State who also doubles as the sector Commander; two others identified as JJ and Dadawa both natives of Ohaozara in Ebonyi State.
“Those arrested are Emeka Sunday native of Anike Ohaozara in Ebonyi State and Anthony Okeke native of Umuala Amaifeke [Orlu LGA].
“The ESN camp where they were killed is located at Ngbuka Orlu near essential homes in Orlu.
“Items recovered include one locally fabricated GPMG, three Automatic Machine Guns and other dangerous weapons and charms,” the report concludes.
We note that of the five actors, 3 are aliens who journeyed from their home state of Ebonyi to unleash mayhem in Imo.
This is troubling enough, but what follows is much more distressing.
While these hoodlums presented as ESN members, GACIY understands that the two living suspects confessed upon interrogation to being members of a cult group.
What is their goal? The suspects told police they simply receive and execute directives from a group of prominent persons in Imo whose aim is to achieve state-failure if only to frustrate Governor Hope Uzodimma. These politicians live in Abuja from where they carry out their nefarious and dastardly actions against Imolites.
By using cult boys disguised as ESN agents, the sponsors project the narrative that violent separatism is welcome in Imo because the people have rejected government.
Based on the advice of security sources, GACIY will withhold named sponsors of attacks in Imo State (for now) in oder to not compromise ongoing police investigations.
Interestingly, the IPOB restated its cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home protest and distanced itself from these gangs of armed enforcers. But it should not have launched it in the first place. Sensing the fluid security situation, we cautioned against emotional reactions like the sit-at-home mandate. As predicted, the idea turned out a handy tool for the mafia; an exercise in self-defeat: fruitless, pointless, and bloody.
Imolites should know that the politicians soaking the land in blood do not mean well for Imo. We raised the alarm a few weeks ago when we discovered that the PDP performed the nauseating cloning of ThisDay Newspaper just to promote lies against the person of Governor Hope Uzodimma. While some saw humour in that callous act, we saw a dangerous slide into anarchy. Today, evidence suggests politicians are cloning the ESN and God knows what else.”
The group in their resolution says thus:
“We therefore call on the Imo State Government to
1) sustain the offensive against criminals no matter their persuasion.
2) thoroughly investigate the coordination of these attacks with a view to bringing masterminds to justice.
3) continue to compensate and assuage victims of these attacks in order to restore their faith in government.
GACIY meanwhile commends the Government and people of Imo for winning the war against insecurity. Unfortunately the battles are not yet over. Until those waging this assault against their fatherland are fully unmasked and prosecuted, let perpetual vigilance be the price for safety.
Signed:
Collins Ughalaa KSC
(Convener).
