Some adhoc staff recruited by the Rivers State government to administer COVID-19 vaccines have lamented over the failure of the government to pay them for over two months.
One of the affected staff who spoke on behalf of several others, said they were recruited by the Rivers state Primary Healthcare Management Board.
The affected adhoc staff who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of being victimized, said for two months they have remained unpaid but have only be given eighteen thousand naira as mobilization stipends.
She complained that the situation has made life difficult for them, adding that they have made several appeals to the management of the Primary Healthcare Management Board but all to no avail.
She said “We have not been paid and it’s getting to eighty days now and we have not been paid.
“It has been horrible. We have just received logistic of N18, 000 since then. We have been expecting money because we make use of our small date to do the work.
“So we are pleading to the people in charge to do something about it.”
Meanwhile, the Immunization officer at the Rivers state Primary Healthcare Management Agency, Dr. Joseph Urang has dismissed claims that the adhoc staff were being owed by the state government.
Urang blamed the National Primary Healthcare Management Agency for the delay in the payment of the adhoc staff.
