The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday adopted a report by its Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes for the confirmation of nominees as board members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

After the report was read by the Committee Chairman, Senator Suleiman Abdu Kwari, who also represented Kaduna North Senatorial District, Senators who made contributions commended the Committee for the discreet investigation of the nominees.

Senator Jibrin Barau expressed his view in support of the report, given that there was no controversy trailing any of the nominees.

Before the open debate, the Chairman of the Committee submitted that the nominees made themselves available and were thoroughly scrutinised in line with the mandate of the Committee, while he urged Senators to approve the nominees.

“That the Senate do receive and consider the report of the Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes on the confirmation of the nominees,” he said.

After contributions on the need for EFCC to have a board in place to strengthen activities of the agency, Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege put the report to a voice and it was passed.

  2. Luqman Muhammed – Board member
  3. Anumba Adaeze – Board member
  4. Alhaji Kola Raheem Adesina – Board member
  5. Alhaji Yahaya Muhammad – Board member.
