Real Madrid attacker, Karim Benzema has reacted to finishing in the fourth position in the Ballon d’Or 2021.
Benzema ended up behind Chelsea’s Jorginho, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and the winner, Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi.
The 2021 Ballon d’ Or was awarded to Messi on Monday in Paris.
Reacting, the France international took to his Twitter handle, also thanked everyone who supported him to make the Ballon d’ Or top five this year, adding that the show must go on.
Benzema tweeted, “Thanks to everyone who supports me I play football for you and the show must go on #halamadrid #nueve #alhamdulilla.”
Benzema had a great year in 2021.
The forward almost led Real Madrid to the La Liga title by scoring 23 goals. However, the Los Blanco missed out by two points to rivals Atletico Madrid.
The 33-year-old also led the France national team to the UEFA Nations League this year.
Since the start of the new season, Benzema has scored 24 goals in 18 matches for Real Madrid across all competitions.
