The Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association has announced the temporary suspension of its two-day industrial action which began on Tuesday.
NATCA President, Abayomi Agoro, told The PUNCH that the strike was put on hold to give way for a meeting with the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Musa Nuhu.
Agoro told our correspondent on Wednesday that the meeting would hold by 2pm in Abuja and the outcome would determine the next line of action.
Air traffic controllers had slowed down traffic flow and departure time by 20 minutes on domestic flights at the four major airports in Lagos, Abuja, Port-Harcourt, and Kano to press home its demand for better welfare for its members, amongst others.
Domestic flights had experienced some hiccups in their routine operations on Tuesday as NATCA embarked on the industrial action before it suspended same.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency has assured airspace users and the general public that the Nigerian airspace remained safe for seamless and economic air travel.
“We also regret any inconveniences caused earlier,” NAMA Managing Director, Fola Akinkuotu, said in a statement.
