The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) has insisted that the 5G network was safe and there should be nothing to fear.

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta gave the assurance on Monday when he appeared before the Joint Senate and House of Representatives Committee on Communications to defend its 2022 budget defence.

Reacting to fears in the public domain about the safety of the 5G network infrastructure by the panel, Danbatta stressed that it was mere rumour, assuring that it is a new technology and is safe anywhere.

He said the NCC had shared the same concern but noted that the Commission would not be so careless with the lives of Nigerians, adding that it was the reason they have embarked on aggressive sensitisation of Nigerians on the value of the 5G network.
