A member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Henry Longs is dead. The PUNCH gathered that Longs, who represents Pankshin South State Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress died in Jos on Sunday evening after a leg surgical operation.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Philip Dasun confirmed Long’s death to The PUNCH on Sunday night.

Dasun said “It is true we lost one of our members this evening, the lawmaker representing Pankshin South State Constituency, Hon. Henry Longs. He had a problem with one of his legs and had gone for an operation. Unfortunately, he did not make it. His death is very sad and we will miss him.”

Another lawmaker who expressed sadness over Long’s death said the deceased had been at the forefront for the State Assembly to follow due process in conducting its affairs especially during the ongoing leadership crisis that engulfed the Assembly.

He said “Longs’ death is a big blow to the State Assembly especially to the camp of Ayuba Abok. He is a strong supporter of Ayuba as Speaker of the House. He is one of those people who has stood their ground for the right thing to be done in resolving the leadership crisis among the lawmakers and we will surely miss his contributions for the development of his constituency and Plateau state at large.”
