The International Press Centre, IPC, Lagos-Nigeria has described the death of Vanguard journalist, Tordue Salem, who went missing on October 13, 2021, as another dark chapter in the history of journalism in Nigeria.
While expressing sadness over the death of the journalist who covered the House of Representatives in the National Assembly, IPC maintained that the discovery of his body was received with shock.
Salem had been missing for some weeks and was reported to have been found dead in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory.
While condoling with the family of the deceased journalist as well as Vanguard Newspapers, the Executive Director of IPC, Mr. Lanre Arogundade in a statement said the circumstances surrounding his death must be unravelled by authorities.
“This is another dark chapter in the history of journalism in Nigeria and we cannot but be very saddened by the death of yet another journalist
“From trepidation over his fate after his mysterious disappearance, we have now moved to a state of shock, despair and mourning following the discovery of his dead body.”
