A United States of America-based management consultant, Dr. Felix Ugwu has hailed the giant strides of the Enugu State Governor, Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, describing him as “a man with the magic wand.”

Ugwu said this while x-raying the performances of Gov. Ugwuanyi in the last six years.

He said the Governor remains “a colossus among his peers and has distinguished himself in areas such as peace and security, infrastructure and mass mobilization, among others.”

According to him, “As a professional risk bearer, the Governor has excellently been harnessing the human and material resources available in the State, with leadership best practices.”

He noted further that, “Ugwuanyi has endeared himself to many which spurred them into carrying out his campaign.

“His personality traits and leadership antecedents which is built on humane and philanthropic ideals was brought to bear while he was in the National Assembly and that also gave him a quantum leap to gain overwhelming acceptance in Enugu State. This has also popularized the belief that Governor Ugwuanyi may be the best and the accepted one for Igbo presidency.

“As such, many distinguished personalities in Enugu State and in the diaspora were ardently involved in seeing that Ugwuanyi emerged as governor to sail the ship of Enugu State to a safe and peaceful shore.”

Ugwu, who is known for sharing some leadership and humane dispositions with Gov. Ugwuanyi, said he had continued to give support to the Governor’s programmes and policies.

Also speaking, one of the benefactors of Ugwu’s philanthropic acts disclosed that, “Starting from 2015 when Ugwu was patron of the mandate group, a support organization for the election of Hon. Ugwuanyi, he had continued to carry his campaign to wherever he could until Ugwuanyi emerged as governor.

“Within this period, Dr Ugwu has carried out a medical mission where many Enugu residents in various communities received medical attention by the team from the United States

“On one of his regular visits to Nigeria in 2019, Ugwu towed the part of Ugwuanyi’s benevolent gestures through settling the hospital bills of indigent patients in ESUTH Teaching Hospital, Enugu and some other health centers in Enugu State.

“The patients, who had earlier been discharged either on the completion of their treatment or referral to other hospitals, but were left stranded for months in the hospital due to lack of funds to settle their bills, were consequently let off the hook and allowed to go courtesy of the magnanimity of Dr Ugwu.

“Ugwu, who believes that Ugwuanyi’s style of leadership is overwhelming, also visited many indigent centers and motherless babies homes in Enugu and its environs where the inmates were showered with many items ranging from food to other domestic items.

“This unrepentant follower of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi equally carried the governor’s campaign to Umuaga in Udi Local Government as the patron of the Mandate group, as well as to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Likke Iheaka in Igbo-Eze South LGA, among others where the lives of the community people were also touched through cash donations and other materials.

“Even when he was not commissioned, Dr Ugwu’s resolve to play a supportive role to Ugwuanyi did not stop at his humane and philanthropic gestures to the people, but various points in the State were adorned by the governor’s re-election and congratulatory billboards made possible by him.

“Even after the re-election of Ugwuanyi in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Ugwu continued on his support for the governor who he described as peace personified through another complimentary visit to destitute centers, including the Old Peoples Home, ‘Little Sisters of the Poor Home of the Elderly’, Awkunanaw, Enugu, where he donated food items worth over a million naira for their upkeep.”

Speaking on the gesture, Ugwu said it was his own way of celebrating Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for getting a second term in office, adding that the governor’s leadership skills had revolutionised governance in the state.

“The Governor has done well in uplifting the poor, the needy and residents of the state. What we are doing today is in support and furtherance of the good nature of the governor,” he said and urged other well-to-do Nigerians to visit such places and assist indigent people.

Speaking further, Ugwu applauded Ugwuanyi for his commitment to security, noting that it was everybody’s business and should not be left for the government alone.

He also commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for being proactive on matters of security of life and property, among other issues affecting the welfare of residents and citizens of the state.

Ugwu said that Governor Ugwuanyi was matching words with action as evident in his tackling of security, by being the first state in the South-East to constitute and implement forest guard security outfit through the recruitment of over 1700 forest guards in Enugu State.

“I have gone further with my campaign over the current voter registration exercise in the localities, for the purpose of electing credible leaders in future.

“Election of leaders through a seamless transition as was the case with Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will ensure that the success story we have in Enugu State will continue,” Ugwu said.
