The Akinruyiwa of Owu Kingdom, Chief Olumide Aderinokun, has called out the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, over what he called “the low spate of development across the state,” especially in 2021, saying the people deserve better.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain slammed Abiodun for “his ignorance” to develop other key sectors in the state aside from road rehabilitation, which he said was taking longer than expected to be completed.
In a chat with DAILY POST in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the property developer faulted Abiodun’s claim of building the future of Ogun people, asking him to show the basic amenities in each local government.
The politician reminded Abiodun that his predecessor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, touched road construction in all the three senatorial districts in the state, asking the governor to do better.
“The Governor claims to be building the future but sincerely where is it if people cannot point out any new development and basic amenities provided in their local government areas.
“Overall, Ogun State can do better than what we have at the moment. The Amosun administration touched road development across the three Senatorial Districts.
“Governance and leadership is not algebra that you can manipulate with nothing to show in almost three years,” he said.
Aderinokun lamented the position of security and infrastructure in Ogun State, saying, “the records are there to prove it, insecurity is on another alarming level in Ogun; and for infrastructures, is there any key thing apart from the few road constructions that are yet to be completed? Ogun people truly deserve more than what Abiodun is offering them right now.”
“It is another December to mark the end of 2021, how many achievements can you count in Ogun State aside from claims of road rehabilitation? Is it only the City Gate and Kobape Estate we have to show as new developments in Ogun Central after 12 months?” he questioned.
The Owu indigene said he, through his Olumide and Stephanie Aderinokun Foundation, had improved the standard of living of people in Ogun Central through different people-oriented programmes like scholarships, loans and others.
