Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, has handed the club’s board the name of a player to sign.

According to Manchester Evening News, Rangnick is urging the Man United hierarchy to sign Haaland from Dortmund as he would transform the side’s attack.

Haaland chose Dortmund over Man United in 2020, with the Premier League giants describing the figures and clauses being requested by the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, at the time as ‘bad for the industry’.

The Norway international has been in great form since joining Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2020.

Haaland has scored 76 goals in 74 appearances for Dortmund so far and has attracted strong interest from several top clubs across Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

But Man United are also interested in a deal for Haaland after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, their former manager, narrowly missed out on signing his former player in December 2019.

Meanwhile, Rangnick was working as Red Bull Salzburg’s director of football when he was able to secure the signing of Haaland from Molde in 2019.

The German is set to take on a two-year consultancy role at the end of the season as Man United look to appoint a new long-term manager.

He is already attempting to sort out Man United’s recruitment and they could move for a defensive midfielder next month, with Amadou Haidara high on his wishlist.
