Leicester City fought out a hard earned 1:0 victory to hand Liverpool their first defeat in ten games.

Liverpool had last week knocked out the Foxes from the Crabao Cup in a thrilling penalty shootout after a 3:3 draw with Liverpool’s Minaminọ equalized in added time of the second half.

Liverpool seemed wasteful, but Leicester City will have goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel to thank for pulling off brilliant saves including a first half Salah penalty.

Salah saw his penalty saved after the Egyptian was ripped in the box by Winifred Ndidi. He also saw the parried ball he headed hit the cross bar in a nervy moment for the home side.

Leicester in the first half created chances, capitalizing on Kelechi Ihenacho’s cleverness on the ball as well Jamie Vardy”s speed.

It was second half substitute Ademola Lookman, who found the back of the net after a brilliant team play to give the home side the lead that made the difference till the end of the game.

Salah, Mane and Jota all came close but Kasper Schmeichel was having a good day in goal and ensured the score line remained the same coupled with a disciplined defending that started from the midfield.

Liverpool will remain second on the table despite the loss, giving Manchester City an assured six-point lead on the log.

Leicester are ninth on the table with the victory being the second time they finished on the winning side in their last 7 games.

Leicester will host bottom placed Norwich on New Year day, while Liverpool will be playing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge the following day.
