Shehu Sani, former Kaduna Central Senator, on Thursday suggested the solution to banditry in the Northern part of the country.
Sani said the solution to banditry lies in identifying those who collect ransom paid to bandits.
He observed that despite extorting huge sums of money from victims, bandits still remain ragtag criminals and famished looking souls with AK-47s.
In a tweet, the former lawmaker wrote: “The bandits killing and kidnapping people in Northern Nigeria are famished looking, ragtag criminals riding on motorcycles and holding AK 47s.
“The solution lies in getting to the root of who ultimately collects the millions of the ransom money they extort from their victims.”
Sani’s call comes amid the increasing menace of banditry in the Northern region, with the incessant killing of people in communities and travellers along major roads by bandits.
This week, bandits killed a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Honourable Rilwanu Aminu Gadagau, who represented the Giwa West Constituency in the state Assembly.
