Different quarters of concerned and affected groups and  individuals have been speaking out on the shocking arrest of Senator Rochas Okorocha’a son-in-law Ugwumba Uche Nwosu.

The arrest which was initially tagged kidnap by the media because of the manner it was carried has been attracting comments from different quarters except Imo State Police Command.

Uche Nwosu who was arrested while the outing service if his late mother was going on said that masked men who refused to identify themselves carried out the operation, adding that he was further taken to Ahuja via Enugu airport on a chattered private jet.

“While the sermon was ongoing, I saw some military people who came in. I asked my boys to go and welcome them because I thought they escorted a VIP to the church to condole with me over the death of my mother”

*All of a sudden, over 15 masked security operatives jumped into the church. While some rushed to the altar, some came to where I was sitting and ordered me to move or they move me. They started shooting and disrupted sermon that was ongoing”

“I demanded to know what was going on but they said they had an instruction to bring me. They manhandled me and bundled me into one of the vehicles they came in. One of them ordered me to lie down and one of them placed his leg on my head.”

“When they drove off, they started making calls in Hausa language and unknown to them I understand the Hausa language.” he said.

He has openly blamed the state government for the arrest alleging that the operatives are members of the government house security unity.

Okorocha asks questions

With the heat still on, Senator Rochas Okorocha has been another voice on the side of his son-in-law, taking a firm stand on the narratives of his former Chief of Staff.

Senator Okorocha was the first to allege that the operation was carried out with the orders of Senator Hope Uzodinma, mentioning his Chief Security Officer “Shana” as the chief mastermind.

Okorocha since the incident has granted interview to various TV stations trying to mount pressure on the police to reveal who ordered the arrest, having said that it was not the Police Inspector General.

The former Imo State Governor has since then called on the Police Inspector General to unmask who paid for the chattered private jet.

He is also asking the police to make public who gave the orders for his son-in-law to be cuffed, stripped and filmed for the sole aim of humiliating him as a common criminal.

He added that he has written petitions to different organization and will not let the matter slide like when he was arrested earlier this year.

IPOB “vindicated”

The Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB who have been blamed for the unrest in Imo State and entire South East said that it has become obvious they are not responsible for what they are being accused of.

They said that Uche Nwosu have been exposed as the mastermind of insecurity in the state following a recorded confession by an arrested criminal in the state.

IPOB’s arm carrying unit, Eastern Security Network have often been blamed as the face behind the unknown gunmen ravaging communities in South East Nigeria.

Although the everyone on Uche Nwosu’s side has said the the video was scripted and fake, IPOB are always swift to jump off the blame train anytime an event shifts the blame from them.

Emelumba denies for Imo State government

Imo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba who initially said that the arrest was never carried out inside the church has told Uche Nwosu to stop blaming the state government for his ordeal.

Emelumba who described blaming the government as malicious, said that Uche Nwosu was in a hurry to allege without proof, instead of asking time to reflect on his arrest and bail.

“This is a malicious concoction, that can only be made up by a drowning man. It is pitiable that rather than go into a sobering reflection on his arrest, Nwosu, upon his release on bail, was in a hurry to allege without any proof that his arrest was masterminded by Imo State Government.”

Police silence is not golden

Ever since the arrest of Uche Nwosu, the Imo State Police Command have been very strategic in their statements.

The command has only made a single state to refute that Uche Nwosu was abducted, saying that they are aware of the arrest.

The statement was strategic as being aware does not translate to being responsible for the arrest.

Since then the State Police Command has been mute making obvious that they were not carried along in the operations.

The silence is further compounding the fears of Imolites that there is another arm of the police probably strong the than the Police Command and one that does not also answer to the Police Commissioner.

Earlier this year when Senator Rochas Okorocha was arrested in a brawl with the state government, rather than play an active role in the scenario, they rather played the role of rescuers for the former governor, by taking him away from the initial unit who arrested him.

The silence by the police is also creating room for speculations and fake news as different quarters are “authoritatively” quoting a Command who has said absolutely nothing.
