The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that former governor of the State, Rochas Okorocha is not its member.

The State chapter of the party made the remark while denying claims of endorsing Okorocha’s presidential ambition.

Cajetan Duke, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, said the Imo West Senator failed to revalidate his membership during APC’s last registration and revalidation exercise.

In a statement issued yesterday, Duke said: “For the avoidance of doubt, the leadership of Imo APC declares that Okorocha, representing Imo West at the Senate is as at today, no longer a member of the APC because of his deliberate failure to revalidate his membership of the party during the last registration and revalidation exercise adjudged to be most transparent, open and peaceful.

“It is, therefore, odious and extreme subterfuge for anyone to issue statement indicating that Imo APC, which Okorocha is no longer a member, has endorsed and passed vote of confidence in him to contest for the presidential ticket of our great party.”

Stressing that Imo APC is led by Macdonald Ebere, Duke said it never passed any vote of confidence in Okorocha.

He explained that the decision was due to Okorocha’s “melodramatics when he was the governor of Imo State.”

The Party’s spokesman claimed that Okorocha lacked character, competence and credibility to be Nigeria’s President.

Duke warned that it would be a mistake with grave consequences if the Senator is allowed to rule Nigeria.

Okorocha, who had previously contested for the Presidency, is yet to make his intentions public, ahead of 2023.

The lawmaker, however, has endured a torrid time with the Party in the State and the State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.
