Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Wednesday abruptly ended the state’s 2022 Interfaith prayer service over the news of Alao Akala’s death.

The prayer session was organised by the Oyo State Civil Service to mark the beginning of the year 2022.

Makinde, however, ended the prayer session abruptly when he received the news of the death of the former Governor.

Alao-Akala was the Governor of the state between 2007 and 2011.

The former Governor died at the age of 71 in his hometown, Ogbomoso.

Makinde, who called for a minute silence for the former Governor, prayed to God to grant repose to his soul.

He condoled with the immediate family members of the former Governor, his political associates and all residents of the State.

“I am here with the speech prepared for this event but I have just been informed about the death of former Governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo-Akala.

“I pray that God grant his loved ones and all his well-wishers the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”.
