Osun Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has stated that Nigerians have a responsibility to continue to show love and demonstrate unity towards one another to ensure the labours of the nation’s gallant soldiers was not in vain.
This is as Governor Oyetola also lauded the patriotism and sacrifice of the personnel and men of the armed forces and sued for peace and national integration among citizens of Osun and Nigerians at large.
The governor made this known at a thanksgiving service held to round off the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration on Sunday.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, Oyetola held that individual decision to love and serve the country is a strong cord for welding the nation together.
The governor who maintained that the patriotism and sacrifice of the Nigerian armed forces have taught us that we have a stake in each other added that the success of one edifies the rest and the death or failure of one diminishes the rest of us.
He explained that citizens have a responsibility to support and show love to the families of the servicemen as a state, a nation and a people.
“We have a responsibility to pray for them as a church, a state and a nation.
“As beneficiaries of the sacrifices and commitments of our gallant soldiers, we have a responsibility to continue to show love and demonstrate unity towards one another to ensure that their labours are not in vain.”
While harping on the importance of prayers in achieving peace and unity of the nation, he called on the citizens of the state to rededicate themselves to God for the realisation of the purpose of creation.
“This belief is one of the secrets of Osun’s enviable peace profile,” he described.
