Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed shock over the demise of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji.

DAILY POST recalls that the monarch died at the age of 93.

He ascended the throne in March 2016 during the administration of the immediate past governor, late Abiola Ajimobi after the death of Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade.

The monarch died in the early hours of Sunday.

Adetunji is from Popoyemoja area of Ibadan.

Makinde in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa described the monarch as an exemplar in royalty.

The governor described the monarch as a great leader of his people.

Makinde while speaking further added that his wisdom and wealth of experience would be surely missed.

Makinde said, “The news of the death of our father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, came as a shock.

“Kabiyesi’s exit at this time is painful, to say the least. His wealth of experience, his immense wisdom and his commitment to seeing a greater Ibadan and a better Oyo State are unrivalled.

“Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria and humanity at large will miss Kabiyesi, who was ever ready to give his all to see a better society”.
