Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has disclosed that he conferred with the late ex-Oyo Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala, ahead of the 2015 general election.

He said the meeting with Alao-Akala followed his nomination as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Presidential candidate.

Osinbajo made the revelation in Ogbomoso on Sunday during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased.

The VP and his entourage were received by the widows of Akala, Florence Alao Akala and Oluwakemi Alao Akala.

Osinbajo noted that the late politician was a man widely regarded as a titan in Oyo and Nigerian politics.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) recalled how Alao-Akala’s generosity, kind heart and persona endeared many to him.

“When in 2015 I was nominated as the Vice Presidential candidate of the APC, one of the very first people that I consulted was Chief Alao Akala.

“He gave me so much advice and so much support. I can never forget how extremely generous he was with his time and resources.”

The VP said Alao-Akala has left an incredible legacy and prayed that God comforts his family, associates and admirers.

Osinbajo also visited the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan to pay his respects to the late Oba Saliu Adetunji.

He also attended a thanksgiving service for the late Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi, at the First Baptist Church, Ogbomoso.
