A yet-to-be-identified middle-aged man has been killed as a result of a clash among rival groups on Monday in Ikire town, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.
Sources who spoke to DAILY POST stated that violence broke out around the Sango area of Ikire between the two groups following a disagreement.
The source also revealed that a particular group of hoodlums had approached a shop owner, and demanded money
“After the first group had left, another set approached the woman for money but she refused.
“The woman later called members of the first group that she settled and they came around and engaged the second group in a free for all. One person was shot dead. The shop belonging to the woman was also attacked,” the source disclosed.
The Osun State Police Command has confirmed that six suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of the middle-aged man.
The suspects, according to the command, have given out useful information to aid investigation after being interrogated by the State Criminal Investigation Department of the command.
While speaking on the incident, Osun command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the death of the man.
According to her, “One person was shot dead but normalcy has returned to the area. We have arrested six suspects in connection with the crises. We are also going after others mentioned as having played role in the crises.”
