President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Super Eagles’ coach, Austin Eguavoen to maintain and even surpass the terrific form that has given them victory so far in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

In a statement issued on Wednesday night by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Buhari noted that the country was hopefully looking forward to a total of seven emphatic wins in the tournament.

President Buhari lauded the team for striving to win all their group matches which made them advance to the second round of the tournament in grand style.

The President expressed optimism that the good sportsmanship being exhibited by fans, sportswriters and the football team in Cameroon would in turn, bring peace and development to the nation.

Buhari wished the Super Eagles the very best, pledging that his administration would continue to support the efforts of international, regional and national football organisations in a bid to use the sport as a tool to build a better and peaceful world.
