The sign is becoming clear that 2022 will be another rainy year with Owerri the capital city of Imo witnessing its second rain 9 days into the New Year.
Imo State ranked very low in terms of good road network in 2021, a worrisome fact since not much construction and rehabilitation started last year when the dry season kicked in.
There have been several calls on the administration of Senator Hope Uzodinma to rescue the poor road situation in the state, but with almost two years into office, the Governor will no longer blame past administration for anything again in the state.
The poor state of roads in the state had contributed to a serious traffic situation during the festive period with construction hardly seen in any location across the state.
Although Governor Uzodinma during the 6th Stakeholders meeting promised that road construction will commence soon in the state, the emerging weather condition may seem to be the next challenge on the path of the state government.
With Imo already seeing the second rainfall for the year, it is also expected that more will come before the end of the month.
Rain is expected on the afternoon of Friday January 14 according to forecasts, with rain clouds expected every other day in the coming week.
Although light rain fall might not be posing a great challenge to road construction, it could also be seen as an obvious usher for the heavy ones.
The government should as a matter of urgency kick off construction of major bad roads in the state, which are readily seen across all Local Government Areas of the state.
