Government officials, private sector leaders and other dignitaries are expected to attend the final burial ceremony and the 41-day prayer for the late Olofin Adimula Oodua of Ado-Odo, Ogun State, Oba AbdulLateef Akanni, on Saturday.

According to a statement on Thursday, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, will attend the event scheduled to be held at the Alamuwa Grammar School.

The statement read in part, “The late Oba AbdulLateef Akanni joined his ancestors on January 7, 2022, and was buried on the same day according to Islamic rites. However, the 41-day prayer will be held as is the custom.

Other key dignitaries expected at the funeral include the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, as well as the paramount rulers in Ogun State, including the Olu of Ilaro (Yewa Land), Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, who will play host to other royal fathers at the event.”

The unveiling of the Oba AbdulLateef Adeniran Akanni Foundation will also be done at the ceremony, according to the statement.

The Chairman, Programmes Committee, Olofin Funeral Committee, Prof Bamikole Ogunleye, stated, “The Foundation will be at the forefront of the preservation of the ideals for which our highly revered Oba lived.”
