Manchester United have been knocked out of the FA Cup after losing 8-7 on penalties to Championship side Middlesbrough at Old Trafford.

Ralf Rangnick’s side dominated the match and should have taken an early lead when Cristiano Ronaldo missed a first-half penalty, but would gain the lead when Jadon Sancho netted soon after.

Boro got back into the match through a highly controversial goal after Duncan Watmore appeared to handle the ball in the build-up before Matt Crooks poked in at the back-post.

The match eventually went to penalties with Anthony Elanga the only player who failed to convert from 12-yards during the shootout.
