Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has urged security agencies in the state to intensify patrol and surveillance to curb rising cases of crime in the state.

The Governor gave the charge while presiding over a routine state security council meeting on Thursday in Damaturu.

Buni who was represented by his Deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, said the meeting was essential as it is an avenue for stakeholders to discuss and analyse the security situation in the state with a view to developing more strategies to tackle crimes and protect citizens of the state.

“The first duty of the government is to protect the lives and property of its citizens”, he said.

Buni also commended the security agencies for their efforts in ensuring peace, law and order in the state, while urging them to intensify patrols and surveillance to nip the menace of thefts and other social vices in the bud.

He prayed to Allah to bring sustainable peace to the state and country as a whole.

In attendance at the meeting were heads of security agencies, the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali and Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd) amongst others.
