Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma has met with President Mohammad Buhari in Aso Villa on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Governor Hope Uzodimma briefed the President on the progress of work at the Oguta Seaport, a State-owned project being developed in partnership with the Federal Government. 

According to Gov. Uzodimma, the detailed engineering has reached an advanced stage having concluded the hydrographical and hydrological studies.

He also sought for the partnership of the federal government on the constriction of a power generating plant at Nworie River, following the increased water volume at the River due to the performance of the ballon technology flood control system  in the state capital. 


Governor Uzodinma informed the president that  the ballon technology flood control system  which now aggregates and empties flood water from Owerri Metropolis into Nworie River has made it possible for the river to generate electricity.

Governor Uzodimma also informed the President that his government in collaboration with the Security Agencies, have tremendously controlled the security situation in the State and paved the way for improved economic activities. 

“With newly acquired armoured personnel carriers and other technology-driven gadgets by the State Government, the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Security would effectively cover the ten (10) Federal Constituencies in the State and greatly improve the security of lives and properties”, the governor told Mr. President.
