Imo State has recorded 15 new cases of Coronavirus from the 52 samples collected across the state in the past one week.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Prosper Ohayagha, who disclosed this at a media briefing in Owerri, yesterday, said 54 active cases were being handled in isolation centres.

Ohayagha said: “Since the inception of the dreaded virus in the state, 48,812 samples were collected, 2, 522 were confirmed while 58 death have been recorded so far.”

He stated that among the confirmed cases, mostly between the ages of 30 and 49 years, 1, 476 were males, while 1, 046 were females.

He said in a bid to improve compliance with the vaccination, the state government will, today, begin a door-to-door vaccination exercise across the state.

“Ten mobile clinics have also been provided to tour the 27 council areas of the state to administer the various doses of the vaccine. We will also constitute a task force team to enforce compliance with COVID-19 vaccination in the state.”
