The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje has extended an olive branch to the Senator Ibrahim Shekarau faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State after an Appeal Court judgment.
The Court of Appeal, Abuja division, yesterday set aside the judgment of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, which invalidated the Kano Ward, Local government and State congresses.
The Appeal Court held that the lower court lacked jurisdiction and also held that the case was not a pre-election matter but an internal matter of the ruling party, therefore, should be decided by the leadership of APC.
The ruling APC in Kano had split into factions, with a faction loyal to Ganduje, while the other was led by Shekarau.
But Speaking with journalists, Thursday, in Abuja, Ganduje said the party was now united.
He stated: “First of all, we have to thank God for this very important victory at the moment. As he rightly said, we APC of Kano state have got a judgment that all the elections we conducted from the Wards to the State level are legally recognized.
“I want to thank the party and the leadership for initiating the peace move to ensure that our party is united.
“I’m appealing to them because we are members of one family, the APC. So, I’m appealing to them to come and Kano State is almost one hundred percent APC, we will come together and forge ahead in such a manner.”
